Education
Young workers are more likely to be exploited, injured, and harassed at work than any other age demographic. Too often we hear people say ‘well that’s what all first jobs are like’ or ‘it’s how they learn’. It shouldn’t be this way.
Young Workers Hub delivers two sessions, World of Work and Safe at Work, respectively covering the most basic and vital information necessary for a young worker to protect themselves. Each session is designed to be run within a standard, 70 minute high school period, in a classroom setting. However, if required, adaptations can be made to accommodate time constraints or additional participants.
With many students already working casually or part-time, there are often specific, individual issues or experiences raised with presenters during and after each session. During these interactions, YWHub seeks to provide pathways for dealing with workplace problems, supporting students to feel confident enough to take action and protect themselves.

This is what schools say about our sessions:
The session was very easy to book & organise with Bianca. It was clear Connor & Bianca had delivered the presentation many times before as they were very confident and didn’t need to think about what was coming up next. There were lots of clear links to what students have already experienced and gave them some clear information about what they should be doing moving forward to ensure they are working under correct conditions.James Gerchow, Head of VET & Senior School – Ripley Valley State Secondary College
We had the presenters speak to about 500 students for two hours over a period of 6 weeks, as part of our program. We have been very happy and appreciate the YWH’s time and energy in the delivery of this program.
